Belle Isle Conservatory Elopement
Kim and Micah’s intimate LGBTQ+ elopement at the Anna Scripps Whitcomb Conservatory on Detroit’s Belle Isle was a powerful reminder of both love’s resilience and the bittersweet urgency many queer couples still face today. As a queer wedding photographer based in Metro Detroit who works exclusively with film — 35mm and medium format — I was honored to document their ceremony in such a vibrant, natural space. With heartfelt words from their officiant, Emily of Smitten State Weddings, the couple exchanged vows surrounded by the warmth of the greenhouse. We captured dreamy film portraits afterward in the lush conservatory gardens and just next door at the historic Belle Isle Aquarium. Their day was tender, intentional, and deeply meaningful. If you're an LGBTQ+ couple searching for authentic, film-based wedding photography that celebrates your love exactly as it is, you're in the right place.
