The Brooklyn Detroit Wedding

There are weddings—and then there are Kate and Nicole’s weddings. As two incredible women and dear friends of mine, their day wasn’t just a celebration of love; it was a powerful, joyful affirmation of queer love in all its beauty. They wanted the full Detroit experience, and wow, did they make it happen. The day began in Corktown, then we wandered through the timeless grounds of the Detroit Institute of Arts and the stunning Detroit Public Library Main Branch for portraits that felt like art themselves.

Their ceremony took place at The Brooklyn, a new venue in Corktown with a cozy patio and views of the Detroit skyline. Kate and Nicole thoughtfully incorporated Jewish traditions, grounding their celebration in heritage and meaning.

But what truly made the day unforgettable was the energy: pure, unfiltered love and joy. As a queer couple, their wedding was more than a personal milestone; it was a reminder of how far we’ve come, and the beauty of living and loving openly. And the dance floor? Electric. The best I’ve ever been a part of. Kate and Nicole danced like no one was watching—and honestly, we couldn’t take our eyes off them.
