About Kari

Always on the lookout for the imperfect and unexpected, Kari photographs weddings and nontraditional celebrations for queer marriers and allies of the LGBTQ+ community in an artful, photojournalistic style. She captures images that authentically show what it means to be queer, in all its wonderful and messy ways. Kari identifies as queer and uses she/her pronouns.

Kari’s photography is shaped by her work in graphic design and her love for movement of all types. Her work has been published in Equally Wed, Dancing with Her, Dancing with Them, The Knot, Carats & Cake, Zola, and more. When she’s not taking pictures, Kari is the Creative Director at Orso Design Co.

Kari is a Detroit-based film and digital photographer and is available for travel worldwide.

Approach

Film and digital photos that are unexpected and imperfect, but honest, artful, and meaningful.

Emphasis on candid photography that isn’t centered around posing and outdated gender norms. No shot list or interrupting your day for photos.

True-to-life editing that is conscious of all skin tones.

Process

Get to know you. We’ll do a practice shoot and gallery review so I can understand your experience of your body and gender. This allows marriers to feel present on their wedding day and free to enjoy every moment without thinking about photos.

Get to know your wedding values. Throw away your shot list. Instead, we’ll think outside of the box and construct a day that is centered around the experience —rather than the picture— of the day.

Pricing

Full-day wedding coverage starts at $4,500, with smaller packages available for intimate ceremonies and elopements. Don’t let price stop you though. If you really connect with my work, reach out and let's see if we can make it work together.
